Most published material (theses, rare books, periodicals, etc.) is listed in the Library Catalogue. Look for location ARCS or Archives. Other types of documents (archival material, photographs, etc.) can be researched by consulting the finding aids located in ARCS reading room and/or online.To make the most of ARCS resources, especially when using our finding aids, feel free to contact us.
Library Research Services Staff at Morisset Library's Reference Desk can also help with any bibliographic questions regarding some of our collections.
We also provide Workshops and Guided Tours that will enhance your knowledge of our resources.
Consultation and ReproductionBack to top
The fonds and collections of the Archives and Special Collections (ARCS) can be consulted by the members of the University community and the general public. However, access and reproduction of some documents may be restricted for reasons relating to the Privacy Act, Copyright Act, conservation or at the request of the donor.Users must register (with an I.D. card) in order to consult documents. Materials housed in ARCS may be consulted in the reading room only (if not available online). Staff will bring the requested documents to the users.
Generally, the staff will photocopy the documents for users as needed, using the user's copycard. Copycards can be purchases on the first floor of the Library or at the Reprography Services.

Generally, the documents stored at ARCS cannot be borrowed; they must be consulted in the reading room only. However, special provisions have been made to allow the Library Network staff to borrow material in the course of their duties and for visually impaired users, so they can use our special equipment in the Reference area on the first floor of Morisset Library.We also have some duplicate documents (pamphlets, leaflets, buttons, etc.) that our users can borrow under certain conditions. Tours and InstructionBack to top
The Archivist offers in-depth workshops, normally scheduled as part of a course, allowing to review the resources available at ARCS that are relevant to that specific course. The workshops are offered year round upon a professor's request. If the class is small (up to 15 people), the workshops can take place at ARCS if not in the classroom.The Archivist also offers short guided tours of the facilities including an overview of our holdings. Tours are customized to meet the users' interests. They are offered year round upon request, to small groups of up to 15 people.
